Rare Rainbow Hematoid Quartz 19,27 ct

This is an epigenetic inclusion of iron oxides, i.e. that it was formed inside a fracture of the quartz after it had crystallized.

When the thickness of the hematite film is of the same order of magnitude as the wavelength of light, thin-film interference is created which causes the iridescence.

As you can imagine this is an extremely rare phenomenon.
