Yellow Smithsonite is a very rare gemstone, hard to find. Yellow smithsonite is the rarer of the many colors of this chameleontic mineral.

It is a zinc carbonate that often form botrioidal aggregates and stalactitic structures.

It comes from the closed Masua mine in Sardinia, Italy. The Zn mine is now flooded by seawater and protected under a National Park, so no more material is coming from this famous locality.
All the rough comes from old collections.

Its electric yellow color is completely natural.
