Pollucite is a mineral from the zeolite group found within pegmatite rocks along with rubellite tourmalines and other lithium minerals. It is very rare and has a significant content of an even rarer element, cesium.
It can be transparent, translucent or opaque and grey, white, colourless, bluish or violet in colour.
Pollucite was defined in the Elban pegmatite, San Piero in Campo, Elba Island, Italy.
Gem-quality faceted stones are rare, as the material is brittle and difficult to polish.
Polylithionite is a fairly common lithium mica, very similar to lepidolite. However, pollucite with polylithionite inclusions has only been found in Pakistan.
