The name was first used in Russia to define the gem-quality pink topaz mined in an area located in the Ural Mountains. Later, this name was applied to the topaz from Ouro Preto, Brazil, which is orange with red dichroism. Today, the term encompasses all its characteristic color ranges.
The main deposits are located in Ouro Preto, a municipality in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil, and in the Sanarka River, Chelyabinsk Region, Russia. All our pieces come from Brazil.
