Yellow smithsonite is the rarer of the many colors of this chameleonic mineral. Well-formed, good-sized crystals of this color are extremely rare. Its electric yellow color is completely natural.
It comes from the closed Masua mine in Sardinia, Italy. The Zn mine is now flooded by seawater and protected under a National Park, so no more material is coming from this famous locality. All the rough comes from old collections.
